It's time to move

Natural movement is a type of functional fitness. There are many variations of natural movement, such as movnat, animal flow, and primal movement, but they all follow the same principles – using and moving your body. You move on different planes, that is, up and down, front and back and sideways, using your feet and hands.

Natural movement includes foundational movement skills and patterns we did when we were babies and children, as well as animal or primal movement patterns, like the bear crawl.

  • Natural movement is great for fitness for all ages.
  • It helps get you stronger and you will develop lean muscle.
  • It improves mobility and balance.
  • It takes a lot less time to do and you can do it anywhere, anytime.
  • You can do it as a regular workout or do a few exercises here and there throughout the day.

Why Bear Essentials

What is missing from most workout videos is the step-by-step instruction people need in order to learn the essential movement skills, get stronger and progress safely. That's why I created Bear Essentials – it's like having your own Personal Trainer explaining how to do a movement and why it's beneficial.

"Bear Essentials" is named after the bear movement pattern and after the amazing and strong animal. It is also a play on words, as it teaches the fundamentals or bare essential skills you need to be strong and mobile – so you can be fit for life.

The goal for you is to learn the skills, one at a time, and grow in strength and ability so that when you get to the more challenging moves, you will have the ability and confidence to do them. You will then have the foundation and strength to do any exercise program you want and the confidence to live a life with fewer limits.
