Bear Essentials Introduction

Real Motion™ Bear Essentials is a natural movement skills training program that will help you get stronger and increase your mobility.

Natural movement is a type of functional fitness that uses only your body. You move on different planes, that is, up and down, front and back and sideways, using your feet and hands.

Natural movement includes foundational movement skills and patterns we did when we were babies and children, as well as animal or primal movement patterns, like the bear crawl.

  • Natural movement is great for fitness.
  • It helps get you stronger and you will develop lean muscle.
  • It takes a lot less time to do and you can do it anywhere, anytime.
  • You can do it as a regular workout or do a few exercises here and there throughout the day.
  • It's about working out smarter not harder.

To be clear, Bear Essentials is a skills training program, not a workout. Bear Essentials will take you through the fundamentals of natural movement and progress to more challenging movement patterns.

When you learn these skills and practice them, you will have a stronger upper body, core, and lower body with improved mobility and flexibility, and sports like golf are easier. You might even improve your golf game or other activity that you love doing.

When you have developed the strength and skill to do the various crawls, you will realize what an amazing workout natural movement really is.

Why Bear Essentials?

What is missing from most workout videos is the step-by-step instruction people need in order to learn the essential movement skills, get stronger and progress safely. That’s why I created Bear Essentials – it's like having your own Personal Trainer.

“Bear Essentials” is named after the bear movement pattern and after the amazing and strong animal. It is also a play on words, as it teaches the fundamentals or bare essential skills you need to be strong and mobile – so you can be fit for life.

The goal for you is to learn the skills, one at a time, and grow in strength and ability so that when you get to the more challenging moves, you will have the ability and confidence to do them. You will then have the foundation and strength to do any exercise program you want and the confidence to live a life with fewer limits.

Bear Essentials is a crowd-funded project. I am raising money via Patreon to help fund the program which will go on for over a year. So far, only the introductory videos are available. With time and sponsorship, I'll put up more videos.

Bear Essentials will also be available on the Real Motion Workout Channel via subscription if you'd rather have access to that and all the Real Motion Workout videos.

As I mentioned, Bear Essentials is an ongoing project with new videos added regularly. There are quite a few foundation skills and basic movement patterns to learn before you get to more challenging movement patterns, like the bear crawl. That means the series will go on for a while.
